News Autumn/Winter 2016: Awards, Screenings, Public Engagements

  • Awarded ‘Artist-in-the-Community’ grant from Arts Council of Ireland and CREATE forExquisite Gort Migrant Film Project – to take place Oct 2016-May 2017 – I will work with a group of migrants resident in the small town of Gort to start a film collective where we watch and discuss films together over the Winter and make a short film together in the Spring.

  • Selected as participant of Screen Talent Europe Nordisk Panorama Documentary Programme –nominated by Galway Film Centre, funding award by Screen Training Ireland, 15-21 September
  • Screening of The Blow-in short film at Dublin Fringe Theatre Festival, Filmbase, 19 Sept

  • AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE of Eat Your Children documentary as part of Radical Actions exhibition, RMIT Gallery, Melbourne, 6 Oct 2016  
  • Keynote Speaker (with Speaking of IMELDA collective) at 1916:Home:2016 Conference, National University of Ireland, Galway, 7 October
  • Screening of The Blow-in short film at Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival, Cine World, 7 October
  • Selected as participant on Galway Stories – Screen Talent Europe production camp 3-17 October – 16 filmmakers in four groups of four live and work together in Galway city – on this camp, I co-produced, with Aka Hansen, a short film ‘Not the Right Time’ about the pro-choice movement in Ireland, directed by Hanan Driya and edited by Matilda Henningsson.

  • Screening of Eat Your Children at The New Theatre, Dublin, 29 October, organised by The Progressive Film Club

  • 4-6 Nov, London: Conference co-organiser, After Chantal: International Conference, at University of Westminster – part of conference team selecting participants and organising schedule and panels, on the late filmmaker Chantal Akerman

 

  • Mon 14 Nov, Cork Film Fetival, Gate Cinema: Screening of The Blow-in, Cork Film Festival. This short film will screen before feature-doc Ever The Land at 1.30pm in
